About

Sayyod Mirzomurodov is a clarinetist and artist whose musical voice bridges cultures, continents, and generations. Originally from Uzbekistan, he has rapidly gained recognition for his expressive artistry, refined technique, and thoughtful interpretations across a wide range of styles and settings.

Sayyod is currently based in the United States, where he serves as a clarinet professor at Augustana College and is completing his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Clarinet Performance at the University of Iowa. His musical journey reflects a unique blend of academic excellence and real-world performance experience, shaped by both Eastern and Western traditions.

He has appeared as a soloist, chamber musician, and ensemble collaborator throughout Central Asia, Europe, and North America. Notable performances include appearances with symphony orchestras, contemporary music ensembles, and interdisciplinary projects that combine music with dance, visual art, and multimedia. As a passionate advocate for new music, Sayyod collaborates closely with living composers and has premiered numerous new works for clarinet.

Sayyod is especially dedicated to expanding the clarinet repertoire through collaborations with contemporary Uzbek composers. His recent doctoral recital at the University of Iowa featured multiple world premieres of works written specifically for him, including Sonata for Clarinet and Piano by Farrukh Akramov, Fantasy by Sherzod Sobirov, Sonata-Fantaziya by Nurali Erkaev, and Buxorcha by Mustafo Bafoyev. These works highlight his role as a cultural bridge — bringing the rich musical traditions of Central Asia into conversation with the expressive possibilities of modern clarinet performance.

As an emerging global artist, Sayyod continues to engage in masterclasses, competitions, festivals, and research. His upcoming projects include international performances, recording initiatives, and educational outreach that connect classical music with broader audiences.
